Insurance Premiums Climb
One conviction gives your insurer a reason to raise your premium, and that increase usually lasts about three years.
Texas law lets most Bedford drivers dismiss a traffic ticket by completing a state-approved driving safety course. Our TDLR-approved online course gives you that path from home, for a flat $25, with a certificate accepted by Bedford Municipal Court and Tarrant County Justice of the Peace courts (same-day delivery available for $5).
Under Article 45.0511 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, an eligible Bedford driver can ask the court for permission to take a driving safety course. Once you finish the course and file the paperwork, the court dismisses the ticket, so it never becomes a conviction on your record.
You can use this option once every 12 months, and you usually have 90 days to finish. Doing it online means you can complete the six hours from home, the office or your phone, without taking a day off for a classroom session.
Tickets written inside Bedford city limits go to Bedford Municipal Court, and tickets from the surrounding area go to Tarrant County Justice of the Peace courts. Both follow the same Texas dismissal rules, so have each of these ready and check your court notice for its exact deadline and fees.
Most common moving violations qualify, but Texas law sets a few firm limits. Check the lists below before you enroll.
Always confirm eligibility with the Bedford court handling your citation before enrolling. You also cannot use a course if you completed one for dismissal in the 12 months before the offense.
If your ticket was written by Bedford police, your case goes to the Bedford Municipal Court. Ask the court for a driving safety course (DSC) by the appearance date on your citation, with a copy of your Texas driver's license and proof of insurance. Some courts set an earlier deadline, so read your citation and the court's instructions.
Costs and timing: Texas courts commonly charge about $144 in court costs and fees for a driving safety course request (about $169 for a school-zone offense). After approval you usually have 90 days to complete the course and file your certificate and Texas driving record. Confirm the exact amount and deadline with the Bedford Municipal Court before paying.
You are generally not eligible if you hold a CDL, don't have a valid Texas license or proof of insurance, used a driving safety course for a ticket in the past 12 months, or were charged with going 25+ mph over the limit or 95 mph or more, passing a school bus, or a work-zone violation with workers present. Do not take the course until the court approves your request.
Ticket from a county deputy, constable or state trooper? Then it is usually handled by a Tarrant County Justice of the Peace court, which has its own request process and fees. Check the court name printed on your citation.

Most drivers finish all five steps in under a week. The 90-day clock starts when the court grants your request.
Mailing in a payment for a Bedford ticket feels like the easy way out, but paying the fine is a guilty plea, and the conviction can follow you for years.

A moving-violation conviction goes on your Texas driving record, where insurers and some employers can see it.
Court costs and state fees are added on top of the base fine, so the total is often well above the amount printed on your ticket.
